Giving

Giving through the Community Foundation For Ireland is a positive and practical way to show your gratitude and support.

A Chance To Support What’s Important To You

When you start on your philanthropy journey, we encourage you to think about what’s important to you. The causes you care about and charities you already support. By learning from your experiences, we will help you make a real difference in the community.

Help Create Solutions

Philanthropy is well known for supporting new, innovative ways to tackle social issues and root causes of problems in society.  Private donors like you have the flexibility and foresight to fund solutions. Your support could fund a pilot project, research investment or help a charity to try new approaches. Talk to our Giving Team about the solutions you would like to create.

Create Lasting Impact

At the Community Foundation For Ireland, we transform your generosity into lasting impact to create positive social change. You also have the option to collaborate with our other donors and support key areas such as domestic violence and Travellers rights and the environment.

Advice & Experience

Our Donor & Grants team will work with you to understand your vision. Helping direct your giving to where it will have the most impact. Our teams value the importance of listening to truly understand what you want to achieve. This helps us to advise the individuals, families and businesses that we work with on how to donate in Ireland. Our experience means that we know how to help you make a difference in the communities you are passionate about.

Simplicity

Setting up a fund at The Community Foundation for Ireland is easy. We take care of all the administrative details so you can focus on what matters most—giving back to the community. As an individual, a family, a non-profit or a company, you can establish charitable funds without the administrative burden, expense, or time associated with setting up a private foundation or charity.

Community Insight

We have in-depth community knowledge and relationships with over 5,000 non-profit charities and organisations across Ireland. We provide opportunities for donors to learn about vital issues affecting communities and to give back through our designated thematic funds.

Building Connections

You will join our circle of philanthropy and receive invitations to meet with non-profit leaders and fellow donors. You will gain access to a community that cares about Ireland’s greatest needs and explores how to respond effectively.

Long Term Partnership

The Community Foundation for Ireland is one of Ireland’s largest philanthropic foundations, and we are here for the long term. We have a permanent investment fund that generates income for grant-making and enables us to plan long term solutions for communities.

Strong Governance

We pride ourselves on good governance and have rigorous processes to ensure grants are managed with due diligence. We prudently manage our permanent fund to carefully balance risk and return and offer fees on a cost-recovery basis for grant management.
